If football of such high quality comes to my place I would be over the moon, but if I were a Catalan local, I would be there with protesting against this outside Barcelona office alongside 20k+ fans.

  1. even as an european fan this sucks that means we fans have to miss out matches due to time difference, while most of us would like to watch barca play in the evening when we get home from work

  2. Thats supposed to be our home game against them as well. If this shit happens consider me done with football. Cant have a Spanish league match in the US

  3. Great move, as long as we get paid more.

After what happened in champions against the German team Catalans can cry about this.

  4. I live in the US but I am not a fan of this. I really hate what football is becoming. The players are already playing multiple games a season for different tournaments, not including international duties. How is it a good idea for the players to travel 8+hrs overseas to play a game in the US? I think it’s fucked. It’s all about the money.

  5. more top sports leagues are going to be doing this for additional revenue. the NFL hosts games in Europe and now Mexico every season. At least the NFL has been pretty fair about forcing every team to do it on a rotation (expect Jacksonville, who would move to London if the league allowed it).

If its going to be inevitable, at least make every team do it, and not just have Classicos in the US.

  6. I’d rather we plaster another ugly sponsorship on our team kit than fuck up our season/rhythym like this. So thirsty for cash, it’s embarassing.

  7. I feel like the players never really put in the effort for the games played here in the US. It’s more like a friendly to appease the supporters who live here. Disappointing, but I’ll still go.

  8. For football heritage and the integrity of local club football, this is the worst case scenario as most likely this will be a successful avenue of income, they will try to expand it.

I mean, this isn’t new anyways. Didn’t Barcelona play in the US and Mexico during the war to pay off a debt?

As an American fan, of course I have 500 bucks to spend to watch a real El Clasico league game at Yankee Stadium/MetLife.

  9. Money is ruining football, and how are we supposed to watch such a big game in the middle of the night here in Europe??

  10. Yeah they starting with 1 game then next thing you know the whole season is being played in US to get more revenue, this is bs I hope it never happens

  11. Barcelona fans don’t just live in Spain. Majority of us can’t afford to spend a ton of money traveling internationally to watch our team. Will be grateful that I have the opportunity to experience such a classic match-up.

  12. You mean in the stadium with the disastrous CONMEBOL final? You mean the shitty field where Messi got injured? Brilliant!

  13. This is absolutely ridiculous. La Liga matches should never be played in another country, let alone one literally in another continent. Especially so for a bigger game like this one. How are fans supposed to watch when the game is so far away? Not to mention the impact it could have on players. What a joke. You can’t even watch on TV either since it’s a different time zone. I was considering going to this match myself so if this actually happens it will be very disappointing. Stuff like this ruins football. Shame on La Liga

  14. European football is really trying hard to sell itself to America. It’s a lucrative market with a lot of potential fans/income, but I think it’s a tough sell. They don’t understand a game that can end in a draw.
