This is just like shopping at TJ Max. Nobody pays “regular price” for that stuff. It’s an imaginary number.
These are not “negotiations”, they are forced reductions backed by threats of stiff financial penalties.
Now imagine how low those prices could be if the government got the really big stick out and started manufacturing drugs themselves a la calRx.
How does this compare to previous administrations? The modern model started in 2008 based on Romneycare.
This is good they are finally getting rid of the non negotiated pricing but complete bullshit that it’s piecemeal like this and doesn’t start until 2026. It shows Pharma is having to give concessions but still owns the government.
So they could have done that all this time?
Hell yea, it’s a good start at least.
Can’t wait until this matters for all of us who arent super old
Where are all the gas station stickers pointing at the high prices saying “I did this”

These are fake discounts. Jardiance for example, has a high price tag, but nobody pays sticker price for it. Everybody uses a [savings card](https://patient.boehringer-ingelheim.com/us/products/jardiance/heart-failure/saving-sign-up) from the manufacturer which lowers the cost by a lot.
