I have never seen these before, and definitely not in a service station.

  1. If this was proposed on Dragons Den they’d have been terrorised surely? Who would use this?

  2. I’ve seen them about. Not sure why many people would be wanting a place to work at a service station

  3. I had a teams call followed by a Swedish massage from a trucker named Dave on the M6 Toll Welcome Break last week.

He asked me if I wanted a happy ending. Naively I said yes. So he broke out a 2 pack of mini Melton mowbray pork pies from his overalls and we sat in silence as we stared at each other, chewing the gelatinous treats. We parted company amicably.

    9/10 would recommend.

  4. “Arrange meeting with Tony Hayers regarding a second series. Preferable location, one of the pods in the service station.”

  5. Makes sense, if I’m driving somewhere for work, it might be useful to jump into a call somewhere along the way and having a quiet booth would be better than being surrounded by screaming kids in the obligatory service station burger king.

These look pretty big – I’ve had meetings in service stations before when it was the most “in the middle” place between our two offices, though that was pre COVID and the zoom era.

  6. It kinda makes sense until you remember its service station and people have theirs cars as a quiet private place.

  7. They have these at my work. The are soundproof so they used them for meetings not suitable for open plan office.. as far as I’m aware anyway.

People like them so much they want more of them

  8. We have these in my office.
They officially call them “privacy booths”
I made the mistake of referring to them as “Crying Booths”. Needless to say it stuck.

  9. I use them regularly to cast live OF content.

Stops my wife getting too suspicious…

  10. Not seen them myself, however a long time ago I interviewed for a job 6 hours away. It was determined we would meet in a service station roughly halfway, early morning. When we got there the only place to sit was a Burger King. So I was interviewed in a service station Burger King. This would have been useful back then!

  11. Saw one in an airport the other day and I was tempted, mostly just for somewhere to sit that wasn’t absolutely rammed. Someone was in it though so beaten to it.

  12. They are great. Last one I used there was a piss but they are nice for a quick video call.

  13. You’re so precious you cant have a teams meeting in a costa. Supply and demand I suppose, weirdos

  14. Our offices have some. They’re nice but some of them are also faraday cages so you end up having a hell of a time trying to connect to wifi to do any work in there. Great idea, crap execution.

  15. The #GP2024 looked like SCP followed by a number on the thumbnail and I got scared for a second.

  16. We hired one of these for 2 hours when our car broke down, it was both
    – A nice quiet space for my autistic son to relax
    – Cheaper than buying a adapter or battery at WHSmith (booths have usb ports and wireless charging)

  17. Is this lockable from inside? Could be a cheap alternative to a hotel room depending on the location…

  18. I work in a company that runs some public spaces. We opened one of these but had to then close it after a few days as a wheelchair user pointed out these aren’t accessible…
