  1. >**Italian journalists who drew Moscow’s ire by reporting from Ukraine-held areas in Russia’s Kursk region will return to Italy, state broadcaster RAI said on Saturday.**

    >RAI journalists Stefania Battistini and Simone Traini, along with their crew, produced the first foreign media report from the war-damaged Russian town of Sudzha.

    >The town was captured last week during Ukraine’s incursion into Kursk.

    >Russia’s Foreign Ministry summoned Italy’s ambassador on Friday, accusing the RAI crew of “illegal border crossing.”

    >The Telegram channel Baza, known for its connections to Russian law enforcement, reported that the interior ministry was also planning to open criminal cases against the two journalists.

    >In light of this, RAI has decided to recall both journalists.

    >“The company decided to make journalist Stefania Battistini and cameraman Simone Traini return temporarily to Italy, solely to ensure personal safety and security,” RAI said in a statement.

    >They are scheduled to fly back to the northern Italian city of Milan on Sunday.

    >RAI union Usigrai and Italy’s national press union FNSI said in a joint statement: “Journalism is not a crime. The Moscow authorities’ possibility of putting Stefania Battistini and Simone Traini on trial is unacceptable. Reporting is not done with prior authorizations.”

    >Earlier, Italy’s foreign ministry stated that the Italian ambassador, Cecilia Piccioni, had explained to Russian authorities that RAI and its news teams acted independently and autonomously.

  2. *picture of Russian Porechenkov firing a heavy machine gun onto Ukrainian positions in occupied Donbas while wearing “press” insignia

  3. A tale as old as time – Russia wants to control the narrative. 🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺🖕🇷🇺

  4. Russian journos glorifying the destruction in occupied Ukraine is okay though.

    Clown land

  5. Stefania Battistini has been Rai reporter on the field since the beginning of the war.

I didn’t know her and knowing the way Rai works and the way her colleagues work I thought she was a fluke.

She’s stayed there under the bombs for a long time, reporting from the front with commendable courage, producing news services of pretty high quality.

Hats off to her, amazing work.

By chance I believe I saw tonight her last report maybe?

Edit: Rai has tons of ugly sides, it always had, it’s a state owned cesspool of recommended cousins eating at the state banquets, nothing ever works, nobody is capable. But very rarely it does, and when it does it does so well.

  6. Stefania Battistini is a great reporter, she’s been in Ukraine, from villages and hidden refuges, explaining the life, the sentiments of that people and could do a crazy work in Russia, destroying the pride of Putin only describing with a sincere heart the truth: this is a powerful weapon that he doesn’t absolutely want so he menaces the team
