Footage filmed by a bystander, probably recorded on a phone, shows a Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopter firing on a Russian / Iranian Shahed-136 drone.

  1. I’m guessing that deeper in Ukranian territory, where enemy long range AAMs and GBAD are not a concern, helicopter chin guns can be a very cost-effective solution to the long-range attack drone problem.

  2. The operation is much cheaper than that of a MiG-29 and the ammunition used is cheaper than an R-73 missile. It is a good idea to use helicopters, they fly high enough to have a wide view of where the drones are without them hiding in the relief by flying low, but they still have a much lower operating cost than a fighter
