How Ukraine Invaded Russia

Update on status of Kursk Operation as they continue advance. Russia also continues advance in Kharkiv and Donbass. How did they achieve operational surprise? What’s new? Zellensky claims they don’t want to hold onto Russian territory forever. Information from Rueters and New York Times articles.

  3. I posted 5 Days ago Ukrainian’s Objective #1 defendable, stable borders. I posted Ukraine would secure the south bank of the Seym River from Tetkino to Alekseyevka to Glushkovo to Korenevo. Likewise, I posted Ukrainians would capture and defend the Psel River from Guyevo to at least Peny, and then a smaller river and lake network to Rakitnoye.

    The weaker defense areas are the smaller river and lake networks form Korenevo to Sheptukhovka, and from Progrebki to Sudzha. All of these areas are natural defense lines. They can be enhanced on Ukrainian side high ground to cost Russian dearly to counterattack.

    There are flat land gaps between Sheptukhovka and Progrebki, and the area Sudzha to Guyevo. All these areas need substantial minefields and defense lines. However, they are all defendable.

    The Russians have a natural defense line from Rylsk to Kursk using the Seym River. However, there is a high speed roadway south of the river which Russians will probably defend. The gap between natural defense lines is a no man’s land.

    I would expect the battle focus to go east towards Belgorod Oblast as soon as Ukrainians dig in. The Engineers might need 3-4 months to finish their hardened defense lines. New Ukrainian Battalions and maybe a new Brigade will rotate into these enhanced defense lines along rivers. This should free up about 1 Division of experienced Units.

    I expect these experienced Ukrainian Units to seize part of Belgorod Oblast. The area bordered by good rivers and lakes just south of Belgorod is from Oktyabrskiy to Maslova Pristan. An experienced Division with air support should be able to secure this area.

  18. They were getting ready for the republicans and trump to win, since that would mean all weapons to Ukraine would stop and the us might even sanction countries that help Ukraine
