Yesterday Jenas saying Liverpool should have a penalty after the keeper clattered (I think) Jota. Sees a replay and doubles down. It’s a penalty. Then the VAR says it’s not a penalty. Immediately, Jenas saying it shouldn’t be a penalty.
Really feels like pundits are gonna bend over backwards to agree with bad calls.
Opening weekend and several very poor calls. Off the top of my head:
Mosquera choking Havertz then later on fingering Jesus’ arse. No punishment for either.
Ipswich right winger (I forget his name) already on a yellow scoops the ball up with his arm for a blatant handball stopping (I think) Diaz from running away from him. Somehow not given a second booking. But was given as a foul. So the ref clearly saw it, but decided not to give a very obvious second yellow for a 100% intentional handball to stop an attack.
The ref blowing for a “foul” in the Brentford vs Palace game as Eze scored a cheeky free kick. Becasue the useless gobshite blew the whistle as the ball was going in, VAR couldn’t overturn his abysmal decision. If anything it was a foul by Collins on Hughes. All Hughes did was stand his ground as Collins tried to grapple him, and then Collins threw himself to the floor. Never a foul by Hughes. But becasue the new ref blew his whistle a perfectly brilliant Eze goal was chalked out.
Wasn’t that a red card? 😲
Okay so Havertz makes a freekick, but the other situation is almost strangulation and surely a red card. The the hand up Jesus bum is also a yellow which can be shown to Jesus as well for standing in the way on purpose
Why do you think referees are being shoehorned into commentary and punditry teams across every network.
Not a good start for VAR. They need to rescind the red card on Schar and give it to Mosquera.
If I were refereeing, I would have sent off Mosquera twice as well as the 2 Arsenal players. Both players choking each other on the first incident then Mosquera grabs guy’s balls and he is thrown to the ground
Just to expand, commentators are clearly avoiding judgment where possible before a VAR decision is revealed (knowing it’s a complete fucking lottery which way they go).
No one is saying “VAR must see this is x”, “it’s a clear y”, they are sitting on the fence and agreeing with some bullshit decisions and some already even backtracking (Jenas).
Where’s the pundits questioning this weekends dodgy decision? They’re silent. Papers? Nada. MOTD also silent.
There’s been several questionable incidents already, and there isn’t even a discussion.
They are all on the payroll, and have been told to hush down on these things unless impossible to really do so. Doesn’t matter what game you look at the commentators back the referee 9/10 times.
As seasons have went by MOTD covers less and less referee cock ups. Unless a big team loses partly due to one.

Didn’t take long for arsenal fans to get back into the swing of things.
“I didn’t strangle him; I was leaning on his throat”
Can we speak on how petty and pathetic complaining about refereeing is when these incidents are what you’re taking issue with?
Doesn’t apply a lot of force lol. Just his whole body weight on the throat
Professional victim.
yellow for the arsenal player, red for the other player
plain simple
Clear foul on Kai. Wolves player can’t control where his hand lands.
