  1. There’s literally zero buildings left from that period in my city lmao can’t expect a Dutch to be intelligent or resourceful smh stop doing weed

  2. There are lots of beautiful sights from Al Andalus but there is also a giant portion of beautiful Spanish architecture that comes from more recent times. The centers of Madrid and Barcelona come to mind.

Also, even in Al Andalus, the majority of people were still Iberians. Even Moorish families who originally came from elsewhere were usually heavily mixed with natives. It’s not like the Moorish sites were built by the Moors alone while our ancestors lived in shit huts.

  3. And we are proud of it because it looks fucking sick.

On an unrelated topic, this is the first time i see an HD version of that meme template.

  4. Mfw in my city (conquered 1229) there’s basically no original arab buildings standing but 463737 gothic churches and 8573383 baroque palaces

  5. Idk why I see so many bitter fellow Spaniards in this post.. Ok, yes, the post is not really correct (it’s a meme eh) since most our architecture is Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Romanesque… But if you guys don’t want to acknowledge one of the most important periods in our history then you are so fucked up really. The Peninsula grew massively in all aspects: science, literacy, architecture, population, agriculture…

We have Mudéjar and Arab architecture as well.

The Iberian Peninsula has been the main DNA and Cultural crossroad in Europe by far. You should be happy for what that implies.

    Stop complaining you pussies.

  6. Classic hollandaise sauce pirate: Only going to the south of the country. They’ll eventually study their map better and find better lands. Like basque country, galícia and Portugal.

  7. The cons of being the last bastion of Christian resistance is that we never got the cool buildings 😔
