“The unit consists of personnel from security and logistics companies, engineers, mechanics, some officers, and servicemen from a Russian spaceport. There are also personnel from special warehouses of the Aerospace Forces and radar stations in Russia’s Voronezh region, who were previously in charge of manning Russia’s nuclear deterrent.”
Perfect way to deploy your engineers. Next they will be deploying their SU-57 pilots to the front.
Very very special millitary oper-~~ration~~. No you don’t get rations, sorry.
It is actually very clever to send cosmonauts who know how to survive outer space experience from turret toss.
Those Maintenance Crews and warehouse clerks are in for an experience of their lifetime
This is like the Ukrainian Kharkiv Offensive all over again where the AFU found those same type of units during their advance to Izyum.
Starship Troopers!
This is a classic pootinesk move. My army is sadly lacking in logistics. I’m gonna send commercial logistics people that might be able to improve our lousy record to the front to become FPV fodder. –With all apologies to cannons everywhere, you have been replaced.

Will these troops be better prepared going into orbit? Sitting on top of vehicles driving over mines. š§š¤
Come on you apes! You want to live forever?
Capturing these individuals could be extremely costly to Russia. Cannon fodder is useful in that it expends Ukraineās arsenal and tires out the troops. But if they up and surrender, the troops are still relatively fresh, Russia is at reduced logistics and perhaps, the prisoners could give pertinent logistical information.
Give them white armor and rename them to Stormtroopers…
the bottom of the barrel is clean enough to eat off soon
Might as well send in skilled workers that will take years to train.
Bold move. Dumb, but bold
“To disability and beyond!”
Sending all their logisticians and technical experts to the slaughter. Sounds strategy. Next up is the flight instructors and intel professionals.
Aliens on our territory? Deploy the space troops!
Time for Ukraine to break out the Death Star.
that’s pretty crazy. Those guys are not going to be motivated at all. That would be like conscripting NASA contractors from Florida for combat in California. Context: Russia’s two main spaceports are thousands of miles from Kursk.
Stick ’em in a tank and they’ll still have a chance at getting launched into space.
More like spaced out troops
What troops now? LOL
Spaced out cadets?
People in the comments not getting the oligarchic kleptocracy way of thinking: “send the people that can prove your theft from the warehouses to the frontline so that your cover isn’t blown early”
The human capital Russia is burning through is astounding. In those 600k dead there are likely to be a more than a few once destined to be scholars, scientists or engineers who will now only fertilize the earth with their charred remains.
Brace for space laser
Its over Ukraine. The Space Marines have been deployed
There is a turret-toss joke in here somewhere
The more non-combat troops in the region, the more distress in russia and the more surrenders. Good news.
Will they move slowely into battle?
Not the onion
OMG laser guns pew-pew!
Puti’s teenage conscripts didn’t work out too well so now he’s sending space cadets.
Iāve said this in another post, but this reminds me of the last days of Nazi Germany. An empire, gasping for air.
Officer Igor: Now all of you go suit-up your “space suit”, you will be sent to Kursk and fight.
Trooper Ivan: But…but we are the “space troopers”. We’re trained to fight in space on the “planet of mars” not “Earth”. We got no experience with “Human”.
Beware. These guys are not drunk. They are high as a kite
Capture them and interrogate them. The intel these people would have.
They’re doing everything they can to not move troops from the north and east
Ground control voor major Tomski, Take your protein pills and put your helmet on. Commencing countdown Kursk is already won
“Hey mom, yeah! I joined the Space Troops to avoid ANY confrontation in the army!”
Well. Until now. Couldn’t land on the moon, but maybe they’ll touch the soil in Kursk before launch.
I’m loving the term: temporary motor rifle battalion. In what context? I think we can all agree that they will be utterly fucking useless.
The inmates are running the asylum.
Lambs to the slaughter. This is their own fault for letting the tyrant Putin do what he wanted with no consequences. Hopefully they will all just surrender, adding to Ukraine’s “exchange fund”.
Lots of redshirts being volunteered for the Kursk away teams
Are these some of the guys I’ve seen “in training” atop AFVs, tanks and Chi-com golf carts over the years? The ones that hit a mine and get sent into low Earth orbit? If so, I’m worried, as they’ve had much training over the past two years or so. /s
Well, āspace troopsā and ādefendā are both a bit generous. Reallocated cannon fodder clinging to dear life is probably a better characterization.
The US military did something similar in the early 2000s. The Army was stretched thin in Iraq & Afghanistan and USAF personnel were tasking to deploy in support of Army taskings. We at least gave our Airmen 4-6 weeks of combat skills training first.
In normal military bureaucracy, a large percentage of USAF ICBM missileers were tasked to deploy to help counter IEDs in Iraq. When asked why missileers, the army said the needed personnel with EWO training, meaning Electronic Warfare Officers and not realizing the EWO missileers used was Emergency War Orders, or the procedures to launch nukes.
That’s absurd! What ate those people going to do besides get killed? I hope they all surrender!
