Russia claims US-made rockets used to strike bridge in Kursk | DW News

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukrainian forces are “strengthening” their positions in Russia’s Kursk region, where Kyiv has been mounting a major cross-border offensive. Ukraine says it has destroyed a bridge that formed part of a Russian military supply chain. The Kremlin says Ukraine used US-made rockets to attack the structure. Meanwhile Russian units are moving from occupied Ukraine into Kursk. For some analysis we spoke to DW Correspondent Sonia Phalnikar in Kyiv, and with military analyst Marina Miron from the War Studies Department at King’s College London.

  1. The government stated that the weapons transferred to Ukraine are already considered Ukrainian and they themselves decide how to use them.

Imagine tomorrow Russia hands over nuclear bombs to the Taliban or the Houthis and will also say that they themselves will decide how to use them… these are now their weapons… How do you like that?

Imagine nuclear bombing of your countries… and Russia will say that it had nothing to do with it.

Is that what you say? Why can't Russia do this?

This game can be played by two people, did you know that?

  2. They will build pontoon bridges in no time at all. In the meantime they Ukrainians are loosing thousands of troops and territory in Doniets and Lugansk.

  3. And? Russia uses Iranian, Chinese & North Korean weapons to kill Ukrainian civilians & destroy Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, daily. Russia has no moral high ground from which to criticize Ukraine or its military. None.

  4. Humiliating Russia is irrelevant. Napoleon took Moscow. That was humiliating. In WWII, Germany encircled 250,000 Russian troops. That was humiliating. How did all that work out? Humiliation is neither a weapon nor a victory.

  5. dw – the new RT channel where putinist can spew out kremlin views – why has it never been mentioned that putin uses NK equipment to kill UA civilians !!!

  6. This is so absurd , Orcs can do whatever they want , bomb and kill children but when it comes to the defenders , they are limited to defend and ask permissions to use weapons not to hurt the attacker . EU should grow some balls …

  7. Germany as a supplier of weapons used in this NATO incursion into Ukraine is proud to be part of this military operation; things did not go so well for Germany when they invaded Russia during the Second World War! How about working for a peaceful ending of this conflict rather than expanding the war, bringing the world closer to nuclear war?

  8. It's the Ukrainian military first started to used the NATO allies weapon therefore if the west stopped then the war will stop . If that doesn't stop then the Russian will use weapons of all types from it neighbors. This is a NATO war but they are using their proxies to do the fighting but soon soon they will regret it

  9. You hit the edge of the bridge it's above the ground it's super easy to build back up if you want to be a challenge hit the center of a bridge you know it's over the water that takes more resources and longer to rebuild.
