Philip Prescott, Gareth Metcalfe and David Hill were jailed for a combined seven years and eight months for their part in the violent disorder.
They were sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, following unrest in Southport on July 30 and in Liverpool city centre on August 3.

The problem is complex. People are suffering from Tory austerity that ripped through social programs, education, NHS, employment and every sector of our lives. Immigration is an easy scapegoat. Many people who would have walked into low skilled jobs now have more competition. Unfortunately that’s what conservatives believe in. More competition means, they believe, more effective business. They might argue that the key would be to become more qualified to be able to work in more skilled positions. It’s easier to point the finger at immigrants than blame ourselves. It’s also easy to look at what’s happening locally ( because we can see it) and assume that reflects reality everywhere. If I were someone on the right wing I would be holding my head in my hands at these riots. They don’t show angry protests, they show drunk people throwing bottles and bricks at policemen. They show people using the opportunity to loot local businesses. They show the power of ignorance and misinformation. The Farages of the world rely on people swallowing the lies and half truths without question. They know how to press buttons. They aren’t really interested in debating because their arguments are baseless and can’t stand scrutiny. They are based on feelings, not facts. They pedal a false narrative and by the time they are proven wrong they have moved on to the next lie. All the right does is recycle the same tired old crap, and their followers never tire of it because it’s how they actually feel- even if it’s not actually true, it feels true-and that’s all they care about.
Peaceful protest is ok but violence is not. Unfortunately the UK government is making UK citizens feel second class and on occasions the reactions are not lawful.
