[Fabrizio Romano] Maresca: “I am not working with 42 players. I am working with 21 players”. “The other 15-20 players are training apart. I don’t see them. It’s not a mess like it looks from outside. Absolutely not”. “They can even have 20 years contract, it’s not my point. I don’t care”.

  1. I get having anger towards media and backlash, but why take it out on the players, “I don’t care” good luck winning them over mate.

  2. He doesn’t really seem like a people person, which I’d assume is important, considering he’s managing the largest squad of people.

  3. Chelsea is a gift that just keeps on giving. If you’re a depth player, what’s the point of even training at this point?

  4. Weird that he’s saying he doesn’t care about them. So much for squad morale.

  5. “I only exiled about 15-20 players it is not a mess like it looks like” 😂😂😂

  6. Somebody should play the looney tunes theme music everytime Maresca or the board speaks

  7. So disrespectful, shameful behaviour from a top flight manager. United fan myself and I dont give a fuck about Chelsea but nobody deserves this kinda treatment. With Roman they still had some class left, thats all out of the window now

  8. Nothing like being told by your boss that he doesn’t see you, and that he doesn’t care if you have a 20 year contract.

Seems like he’s leaning into the “I’m here for a good time, not a long time”

  9. Ouch that’s cold. Mate that’s not how you make players run through brick walls for you…

  10. I know his comment looks worse but I know what he meant.

Its madness having over 40 quality players on the books like that, but it would be even madder if he had all of them sitting wondering if they’ll be on the starting 11 that week.

At least there is some expectation management going on.

  11. The players not training with the first team. Let’s see how this looks by the end of the window before overreacting.

  12. Pochettino would have made something happen in his second season, glad that’s not how it panned out.

  13. good on him, so far so good from what we have heard from him. He is there to win games not childmind 40 players

  14. lmfao

there is no failure like spending more money on 20 players that will never see any games than 95% of the league and finishing mid table every year

    disgusting club and fanbase

  15. The owner just threw a new spanner in the works in football manager. Buy as many players as possible and then let the manager handle it!

Crazy stuff going on at Chelsea. First time I’ve seen this happen to a football club.

  16. Asshole. They’re his players because they’re on the roster. He still needs to deal with them until the idiots Boehly hired in recruitment can move them on. Chelsea’s squad management is absolutely a mess whether Maresca thinks it is or not.
