Very good debut by him, I expected him to be nervy and drop a 6 or 6.5 but ig pre-season helped and he dropped a solid 7.5.

Few stats :-

  1. 49/52 passes
  2. 94% passing accuracy (highest)
  3. 4/4 long balls completed
  4. 5/8 ground duels won
  5. Only 5 times possession lost
  6. 0 fouls committeed
  7. 5 passes into the final thirds

Keep in my mind :-

  1. It was his first match
  2. He played without a 3rd midfielder, after pedri you could see the dynamics that unfolded.

He can still do following things better (I expect):-

  1. Make more progressive passes, he was playing safe which is fair but I think he should keep his game more natural and he likes to make lots of progressive passes and runs.

  2. Obviously need to increase his pressing and pitch coverage. He played in b team where it wasn't required but in flick I think he needs to more faster and efficient. Obviously a long process, will take 6-8 months to see exponential progress in this department

  2. In Barca Atletic Marquez normally played him a bit more advanced than Casado which is the opposite of how flick plays them. Anytime he plays deeper he is normally extremely conservative so it’s no surprise he didn’t have a lot progressive passes. When he plays more advanced thats when you see the Rodri-esque Bernal.

    In any case, first match, good game, step in the right direction.

  3. Statistics are saying that he had a good game, but until we equalized, we had no midfield at all

    For his first game tho, it was okay
