This isn’t intended to be about beating up on people who “lost”, but rather pointing out that Olympic success isn’t just about Olympians’ hard work and determination. Without a network of support, financial and otherwise, Olympians cannot happen.
Maybe this is the wrong graph for making that point.
Many small nations that do not have medals are not included due to limitations of the map I chose.
Any feedback?
No medal for every olympic or just 2024?
What are you using as “country” definition? Guam isn’t on here, despite having had Olympics delegations. It is part of the USA, technically.
Bolivia, Angola and Oman are the biggest suprises for me. All are decent in size and have decent GDP.
would be cool to see this narrowed down to gold only
Very interesting. It would also be interesting to see them juxtaposed against poorest countries or least educated countries or most corrupt countries, etc. I think some of these hit all 3.
You listed a country that doesn’t exist anymore. Bosnia and Hertzegovina?

Code is [here](https://github.com/cedarmora/no-olympic-medals). Tools used are Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Geopandas, ChatGPT, and adjustText. I’d like to thank Abraham Lincoln.
