Can’t believe he is only 17. Control and discipline is already there for a such a young talent. But my biggest praise would be that he is actually open to making meaningful passes forward and not just side to side.
Im most excited to see him develop this year. I was not aware of his game. Still very early this season but having him as FDJ and Gavi comes back from injury also will defintitely add to our midfield depth.
Great highlight reel. Seems so many Barca fans are moaning about not signing a CDM, but Flick plays a double pivot and Bernal looks great there. And there are no Busquets replacements for sale, and Bernal just might be the closest thing and he’s also someone we can afford since we are struggling to even register Olmo.
And I say all this wishing we had spent money to bring in a more defensive minded mid than Olmo. Happy if I’m proven wrong.
truly underrated. he had a great game!
I know it’s a fucked up thing to say about a 17 year old but imma say it anyways Shades of Busi with how he’s on the ball and sees space Crazy high ceiling I think
he does the busi turns!!
Love him with all my heart
Great at absorbing the pressing, and very good at breaking first pressing wave with vertical passes. Good at reading space, and positioning has been solid as well. Hope we’ll develop and nurture him carefully.
Look at that third clip, where he realises he’s sold the pass short – how quickly he spots the error and moves up to cover. Doesn’t overcommit and slide in or push too far up to leave a gap, he just gets up to cover quickly, reads the situation and keeps his cool. Obviously he misplaced the pass to begin with, but he dealt with it ridiculously well for a 17yr old in his second game
I made a couple comments months ago that Bernal is what Xavi was looking for and needed to be promoted asap, and despite being 16 he has enough physicality to compete with older players and has higher technique and iq as well….only a few people agreed with me 😓
