  1. Same for Facebook.

Sacrificing democracy to stay in touch with your friends is sad.

  2. I have no idea why anyone still uses this platform. I feel like it lost relavance back in 2012-ish. I haven’t had an account in over 10 years.

  3. Not happening. Everyone’s a narcissist to a degree and Twitter is the easiest way to feed that. (I do not have an account and never did).

  4. ![gif](giphy|AF3idNZpCQKg8|downsized)

Call it Xitter. Pronounced like: “The Xitter was full.”

  5. I haven’t deleted by account, but it has been inactive for a while now ever since I was told that using the N word wasn’t a violation of the TOS. Which sucks because there are a lot of the comic book community on Twitter, though many have moved over to Bluesky, so that has made it easier to leave.

  6. All the interesting people left or have been removed. You have a couple of stragglers hanging on because their relevance is tied to twitter, but once that cracks, the platform is literally a waste of electricity.

  7. Because most people are only staunch supporters of civil rights as long as it doesn’t interfere too much in their personal day to day lives

  8. I had it for a job, and dropped it after I didn’t get the job.

The hiring manager suggested thames wouldn’t hire me without a presence on Xitter.

    Fuck elon.

  9. The only, and I mean ONLY reason I have it still is to get updates from the National Weather Service. If anyone knows of a different way to get instant notifications regarding weather updates, outlooks, and severe watches/warnings for different parts of the country PLEASE let me know and I will delete this shit yesterday.

  10. We live in a very rural part of NC. Absolutely no internet service available here because the houses are too far apart & too far off the road. Tried T-mobile home internet, but that didn’t work too good. Starlink is looking like a good option. We previously had Hughes net & it just wasn’t worth it. I just cannot support Elmo, so no Starlink for me.

Canceled my Twitter account back when he took it over.

  11. Especially when they censor people who report other users who are spreading hate speech.

  12. I kept it for one specific reason: Some companies want you to tweet them (fuck off Elon, it’s tweet) in order to provide support.

Because it’s just that one aspect I don’t have to keep logged in. I just log in to fire off the tweet then logout once I get a reply.

To give you an idea of the last time I had to do this; it was a tweet to Bethesda Support because I couldn’t login to Elder Scrolls Online several years ago.

I don’t follow a single person on twitter. Why would I. It’s not designed to have conversations on.

  13. Right? It’s an extremely large news network owned by a private entity who licked the boot of an autocrat ON THE PLATFORM! It’s helpful to monitor what’s happening in that circle, but to cite it as anything but an example of corporatocracy is foolish.

  14. WHEN BIDEN RELEASED HIS DROP OUT LETTER ON TWITTER DAYS AFTER ELON POSTED THE VIDEO OF TRUMP KILLING HIM 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

  15. I saw someone refer to it as xchan and I really can’t imagine calling it anything else anymore.
