It’s a bank holiday today in the UK, so here’s to an excellent bonus day off if you’re not working today. Come on in and have a chat – what’s on for your day?

  1. Nothing terribly exciting. Popping round to a friends for a cup of tea and then a walk in the New Forest. I quite fancy a pub lunch now I think about it!

  2. It was unknown to me, so I went to work. My boss said, what are you doing here, I said what do you mean, I work here cousin.

Long story short I will work today as normal but with a different feeling or vibe.

The day had been arranged as if it was a normal Monday, so, sometimes it is easier to pretend that everything is normal

    I even came in early

  3. Roped my parents into helping me sort my garden out. The 5ft fence at the back gives me a view of the top of my neighbour’s head when he goes to his bins, and I want more privacy without the hassle and cost of replacing the whole fence. The garden also looks pretty bare without any structure, especially now the flowers are dying down. I dragged my husband round some garden centres yesterday and we bought three shrubs that will grow to 2m+. I will have my urban cottage garden jungle like I’ve seen on the ‘gram.

  4. I knew that a certain job was going to be problematic and sure enough, it is. A great way to start Bank Holiday…not.

I did jog for 40 minutes yesterday but then was a bit sore at night.

Today- big family lunch, exercise, wood carve and more family later.

  5. Realising that the supermarkets open at the usual time today and not Sunday hours, so done all my food shopping already and they were really quiet and empty.

  6. No BH for me despite working in financial services 😭😭

I expect it to be a quiet day though and tomorrow to be really really busy… And Tomorrow I am on the inbound calls line so unlucky me!

  7. Going to the inlaws for lunch, which was an invitation that included “oh and can you bring your hedge trimmers…and your strimmer…and while you’re here can you just…” so basically they want help with their garden and are covering it with a lunch invitation. To top it off, mother in law has rubbed me up the wrong way with some of her passive aggressive nonsense since we last saw them so I’m not thrilled about visiting at all.

When we get home I might do some gaming or something.

  8. I live in Portugal and today kicked off with an earthquake at 5.11 am. I was half asleep and thought I was having some sort of freak out – it was loud and I could feel it although it was pretty minor. Went back to sleep and dreamt about telling people there had been a quake and they were all telling me I had dreamt it!

The damned dog, who wakes up if a mouse squeaks 10 miles away, slept through it.

  9. Both kids are going to granny’s and husband is wfh. I don’t know what I’m going to do but I’m excited that I won’t be asked why every 5 mins!! Maternity leave is nearly over so going to do a couple of jobs but also try and relax. It’s been a long summer and only 1 more week until school starts. If I chill today I might even have enough energy to do something fun with the kids this week.

  10. Going to do my mum’s housework. My flatmate has offered to cook today, so once I get home I can just have a shower and put my feet up. He’s a good’un.

  11. I’ve enjoyed my 4 day weekend. If this is retirement I want it now.

    Only 38 more years!

  12. Ain’t a bank holiday in Scotland so business as usual

Or it would be if my manager hadn’t reminded me I have 19 days of leave left and I better start taking it or lose it…so I’m sitting in my cycle shorts, about to go for a spin round the Pentlands.

  13. I’m going to be spending my bank holiday having a colonoscopy. I wonder how awkward I can make the weekly meeting tomorrow lol.

  14. Up, showered, and planning to cycle up to the city to get my free three month check on my new(ish) bike

It’s a 14 mile round trip so that definitely calls for fast food lunch

Haven’t been out yet but I’m really hoping it’s warm enough to sit with my book in the park and make a day of it.

    Happy bank holiday folks
