We Spoke To Shocked and Disorientated Russian Civilians In A Town Captured By Ukraine

Russian civilians in the border town of Sudzha appeared shocked and disorientated after it was captured by Ukrainian forces as part of the ongoing Ukrainian offensive into Russia’s Kursk region. They spoke of their experience in interviews with Roman Palyuch of @RadioSvobodaUkraine during a media tour on August 20. Identities have been concealed to protect against possible retribution for talking to RFE/RL.

  1. If you are following us from Russia: RFE/RL has been designated by the Russian government as an "undesirable organization."

You can still read and listen to us, follow, and watch us safely. However, if you are in Russia or in the Russia-occupied parts of Ukraine, and hold a Russian passport or are a stateless person who resides permanently in Russia, please note that you may risk fines or imprisonment for:

  2. When your country goes and invades its neighbour then leaves you to survive on your own and that invaded country ends up providing help to you, you really have to wonder what is there to be proud of in your mother Russia?

  3. most of these russiasns dont know the carnage the russians have done in ukraine and was told the nazis were going to get them, now ukraine is comming they think the nazis are here. my wifes family in uzbekistand dont see the news we see in australia and they think put is doing a good job..

  4. "The War started last week."

"So then what would call what Russia has been doing in Ukraine for the last two years?"

    "I don't get into Politics…"

  5. "there was 'some kind of war' around the border, but I'm not interested in politics" We ALL hear this same shit spewing out of 99% of Russian people (even when there's no risk to themselves) and they sound absolutely ridiculous. I mean, dude, that's NOT what you were asked. Him not being into politics is THE MAIN Problem, and is why they're an enslaved society. It's VERY difficult to feel empathy for these people, especially since they most definitely know what's going on. The "conditions" that they're living in and trying to act pitiful over it all is infuriating because it's NOTHING like what Ukrainians have been living with for over 2 years!

  6. Here in this one little clip, you see the futility of war, but this is the result you get when you have an egotistical maniac like Putin as your leader.

  7. All Russians are not interested in politics …. I really think they are AFRAID TO SAY their opinion because of repressions from Putin for so long time now

  8. We have 3 countries, probably more, currently occupying land outside of their own borders taken with military force, Russia, Ukraine and Israel, pretty sure China is somewhat in the game in the SCS.

So, we've learned nothing at all from multiple world wars and conflicts except how to make better weapons, and we've gained nothing at all save for the economic boost of the revenue stream the military industrial complex generates, of which which 2 countries take the lions share, Russia and the US.

I used to wonder if I'd live long enough to collect even one SS check, I'm still 4 months out on that…

  9. I’m not interested in politics is not an excuse for what your government is doing. They seem like a population of people beat down by hundreds of years of oppression.

  10. Those civilians have no choice but to say what ukranians want to hear. What else can you do when you have a gun pointing at you? Only the old russian lady who rejected the food from ukranian soldiers when they stepped on the russian flag had the courage to say what she felt and she paid for that. You never ever heard about her.

  11. "I'm not interested in politics" that's the sad reality in russia, the citizens gave putin and his cronies all the power and as long as they don't mess things up too badly and don't bother the general population with politics they can do whatever they want.

  12. The most reliable media word of mouth. So it says Ukrainian army killed all civilians in the village and burned all houses. After Odessa action this sounds like true. They not being good for their own neighbours, they not being good in Volyn in Poland, they love Bandera. Why they will be good with other. You romanticism is not appropriate.

  13. Hello there, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing ever. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. See John 1:12 for this please. Will you today genuinely by faith receive Jesus into your life for salvation?

  14. Ukraine is truly a bastion of civility. They made first contact with ppl who barely have indoor plumbing, or even wi-fi, still reliant on their ungrounded electrics 😂
