On February 10th 1335(St Scholastica Day), a group of Oxford University students went to a tavern in Carfax in Oxford. At this tavern the students became angry with the tavern keeper who served them poor quality wine. Eventually the argument between the students and tavern keeper erupted into violence.
As time went on, violence escalated past the initial bar brawl to the university and to the town. In the end around 30 townsfolk were killed and roughly 63 members of the university.
