  1. AfD isn’t against skilled migrants. But somehow this doesn’t matter because of two (allegedly) racist anecdotes. Wtf is this shit? Another AfD hitpiece? Any real connection between AfD and the lack of skilled workers?

The problemnis that our current politics won’t allow employees to make a living that would make any considerations of racism mute. What I’m talking about is the fact that there are places way more racist than Eastern Germany and yet they attract skilled workers because the money makes it worth it.

  2. Damn not a single person who they can natively train to do the job?

The idea that rather than upskilling the workforce it should be preferable to import someone sucks

  3. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://apnews.com/article/germany-far-right-elections-thuringia-racism-economy-c3fdba1942bb8959c9f92eb321466a47) reduced by 91%. (I’m a bot)

    > JENA, Germany – When electrical engineer Preetam Gaikwad first moved to Jena in 2013, she was smitten by what the eastern German city had to offer: a prestigious university, top research institutions, and cutting-edge technology companies, global leaders in their field.

    > Germany is already facing a massive skilled labor shortage with experts estimating that the country needs about 400,000 skilled immigrants each year as the workforce ages and shrinks.

    > A recent poll of more than 900 German companies by the Institute for the German Economy also showed that a majority sees the AfD as a risk, both for securing skilled workers and for investment in the region.

  4. They will soon be able to recruit skilled Germans from West Germany. They do that now, but the situation in West Germany is getting bad. Uncontrolled migration, violence, high real estate prices and rents and a looming economic catastrophe.

  5. I’m glad I left Germany when I did.

It’s a shitshow now. If the Germans wanted to they might be able to cordon off Saxony, Thuringia, and the southern half of Saxony-Anhalt and deport all the racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, violent, trashy, sectarian, animal abusers, child abusers, anti-education, anti-science, anti-environment folks there.
