Expectation vs Reality

  1. Like looking into the toilet bowl the morning after a particularly heavy night!

  2. The sainsbury’s own brand ones are good. They don’t look like diarrhoea either, so that’s nice

  3. The picture is what it looks like when it comes back up again.

  4. Fine by me tbf, the pic looks like it needs more sauce.

  5. I wrote to them about the tiny number of butter beans in their butter bean stew. They claimed that there may have been a technical issue and gave me some kind of voucher. However, every single pot I have bought has been the same. They’re tasty (if a little bland) but I expect more than two butter beans in a product that claims they are the main ingredient. Might add a little tin of butter beans and send them a picture of what most people would expect a butter bean stew to look like.

  6. Now look, you have to sieve it first.

Also, how is it considered high protein at 5.6 per 100g? lol

  7. Dat sugar and salt content.

Mas well just make it yourself if you’re getting diarrhea soup.

  8. One of the rare meals that will probably look nicer on the way out.

  9. Okay but where’s the picture of it *before* you ate it?

  10. I worked in the factory which produces these “meals” as QA. We were allowed send out anything with a minimum of 4 beans per pot. This was usually at the start and end of the run packing. Will never match up to the 25g protein promised on the label.

  11. Most of these Veggie pots look great on the packaging but then up looking and tasting awful, in my experience.

In fairness to the makers of Bol, their lentil Dahl and Thai one actually taste pretty decent.

Not sure what’s going wrong with that one though!

  12. I loved BOL for a while a few months ago until everything tasted flavourless. Their black dhal is the best of the bunch but even that needs reinforcements from the spice cupboard.

  13. Those things are fucking vile. I’m not fussy at all but they are grim.

  14. Is that photo before you ate it or after it’s through you?

  15. As a Texan, I’m shocked and disappointed at this “bowl of beans”

  16. it’s much cheaper and healthier to buy your own beans and then a sachet of powdered Tex-Mex sauces
