  1. “Oleksiy Mes, an Air Force pilot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, died defending our country.

He heroically fought his last battle in heaven. On the twenty-sixth of August, Oleksiy destroyed three cruise missiles and one attack UAV while repelling a massive Russian combined air and missile attack.

Oleksiy saved Ukrainians from deadly Russian missiles. Unfortunately, at the cost of his own life.

Oleksiy Mes was a strong and loyal soldier, a high-class pilot, a leader on earth and in the sky, a good friend, a loving son, father, husband, and patriot of his country.

On the twenty-ninth of August, his fellow pilots, commanders and subordinates, friends and colleagues, hundreds of ordinary Ukrainians came to say goodbye to him.

A pair of MiG-29 fighters paid tribute to the fallen pilot from the sky. The flight over the procession was performed by Alexey’s comrades-in-arms. By order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, lieutenant colonel Oleksiy Mesy was posthumously awarded the military rank of colonel.

We have lost a reliable friend and a strong warrior. But they did NOT lose strength, will and desire to fight, fight and win. In our just cause, we will take revenge on the enemy for everything and everyone.

Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!

  2. Will be interested to know more surrounding this crash which resulted in a loss of an F-16 so soon. It sounds like he was knocking down incoming missiles targeting Ukrainian cities so wouldn’t have been due to AA. Also why no ejection? I wonder if pilot lost consciousness pulling hard turns.

  3. Rest In Peace Hero, may your family find comfort in your life memories and heroic actions

  4. Thanks brother for your commitment, Ukraine 🇺🇦 need more fighters to defend their skies. Italy 🇮🇹

  5. I am guessing this is what happens if training for war is too short and there are a million different systems at work. Compared to Russian training being too short this is sad but negligible. I hope they learned a lot from it already.

  6. Is this the pilot that flew the F16? I guarantee you that we just have to wait a few hours or days for Putin, the Kremlin, state propagandists and Pro-Russians to boast about shooting down a F16 that is technologically weak, the pilot and training were worthless, it is hopeless to fight back and that Pro-Russians will say “there goes my taxpayer money, what a waste.” This will definitely be spinned creatively.

  7. This is the problem with these half measures of support when we need a full commitment to put this war to and end as well as the Russian threat. EU states had these old 16s on had cause they were usless for safe use. These old air frames were good as new as far as weapon systems but these long used air frames in a nato air forces(does a lot of training and hard flying) these got the metal in the air frames all used up (aircraft wigs have a life span from metal fatigue). We need to sand front line new NATO jets with front line NATO pilots, just like Yugoslavia this ends with nato air power.

  8. This is why the Ukrainians must win this war! For Mr. Mes, and all the other brave patriots who gave up their lives in that just quest.
