[Football Meets Data] How many points will be needed to finish in the Top 8 and the Top 24 of the new Champions League?

  1. 4-5 winnable games. Two games where I say it’s even and then the city game where we are clearly not favorites but I can see use getting a scrappy point. I think top 8 is possible but we need a good start whoever we play first to get the momentum going and also have some luck on when the games are played in our schedule. Imagine we have to play Juve on the weekend then city in the middle of the week that will be difficult

  2. 5 winnable games, arsenal and lever kusen win/draw both are fine and city we should expect draw/loss.

  3. I think we have a favourable draw and will finish comfortably Top 8.

I think Red Star and City have one Champions League each… so we have more than the rest of the group combined.

Anyone who fears this draw is a coward

  4. It obviously depends on what others do so it’s pointless doing calculations. However, if you do get 5 wins from Leipzig and pot 3 and 4 teams, it’s probably safe to say that 4 points out of Arsenal and leverkusen almost guarantees top 8. And that’s with planning a loss against Man City. Maybe even two draws would work but like i said, you gotta know what others do.

The whole system is so convoluted so it will almost be fun to see how the “group stage” plays out. Let’s wait and see I guess
