I haven’t seen them crop up in years, obviously still knew the brand was going but didn’t realise people still went door to door!

  1. I do! A lot of the products are actually really good. I have make up from there that gives me better results than Dior, for example. I also really like browsing through the catalogue!

  2. I used to buy the men’s deodorants from there occasionally, but they got too expensive.

  3. There’s some guy in my neighbourhood who sells Avon. The annoying thing is he expects the catalogue to be given back to him after he’s posted it through the mail slot! He was pissed off the first time when we threw it away with the junk mail. Then he posted another one through the door. That time, I wrote a note that said we were never going to buy Avon and to please not leave any more catalogues, and left it outside the door.

Hopefully he won’t be back. I don’t think anyone in this neighbourhood is likely to buy from him, it’s nearly all retirees with a couple of younger couples and my husband and me, who are basically hermits. I already own enough makeup to last the rest of my life with how rarely I wear it.

  4. My mate’s mum has recently stopped selling it. They get more online orders now and deliver direct. When I was a teenager she used to give me loads of free samples

  5. I got one in the post this morning. My mum used to be an Avon lady, so we used to get discounts. Or she used to nick from them. Not sure which one.

  6. I think the crafters companion owner now promotes Avon. Don’t get any catalogues through my door

  7. I had an aunt who used to sell Avon when I was little. Every year we’d all get Avon presents for Christmas. It was stereotypical as.

  8. A few – my Mum is an Avon lady and she has about a dozen regular customers. Not me though, I loathe make-up!

  9. My mum does. She gifts me something little from Avon pretty much every year for Christmas/my birthday. I’m not complaining. It’s our little adorable tradition.

  10. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t sell Avon products or uses them. Join us OP. JOIN US.

  11. What’s the other catalogue that comes or used to come around? I used to love looking through that, they sold everything you could never need

No idea if it still exists though, I’m sure that was 25 years ago or something

  12. My mother loved Avon, she bought from them for years. It was the Avon Lady that found her after she fell and broke both her arms (she had multiple myoloma). She came to my mum’s funeral. Me and my sisters would often get Avon products for Christmas.

  13. My wife used to. Had a few regular customers, but got to the point where people would put in a big order then when it came time for payment they’d say “I’ll pay you next week” meaning my wife had to make up the shortfall until they did. She stopped doing it after that.

The business model is people order what they want from Avon, the seller buys it then sneds the money from the customers back to Avon, keeping a bit for themselves.

  14. I do but only because I’m friends with a rep and I feel obliged to support her. I did recently stop because my cupboard is full of shower gel and hand soap and I really don’t need more perfumes that always ALWAYS just smell the same. 🤦🏼‍♀️

  15. The perpetual calendar on my desk is from Avon. I must have had it for about 20 years now.

  16. Actually,.I do! I’ve used their hair dye for years and it’s really good. I wait till they have an offer and buy y-12 months worth!

Their have a skin oil which is.amazing for keeping gnats and mozzies away.

  17. I used to love flicking through the Avon catalogue. My mum used to wear ‘Far Away’. They still sell it, I recently thought about buying a bottle for nostalgia sake.

  18. I got one in the postbox this morning too, our Avon lady stopped doing it a few months ago but seems she has come back, maybe to get a little extra money before Christmas.

I do like their bubble baths and have tried some of their makeup, I’ve liked everything I’ve used but there is only so much you can buy as products last ages.

My mum likes their glycerin hand creams and bronzer.

I’ve also gifted a few bottles of aftershave to my dad and brother who said they really like them.

  19. My auntie sells it. She goes round her neighbourhood and seems to do quite well out of it. She was just telling me that she’s made £800 from it, which is going to be her spending money for a rare holiday she’s about to go on. Her husband is a bit weird about money, so she’s pleased the avon money is hers alone and he can’t tell her how to spend it 😕

Not sure how long it’s taken her to save up the £800 but she obviously thinks it’s worth the time and effort it takes her. Also she likes an excuse to go round and chat to people so it works out well for her. Before she started, I didn’t think there was still such a market for it, but obviously there still is in some places.
