So they were told not to go as there would be no event, and still went and were still disappointed that there was no event. Twats
To be fair, the Hogwarts Express doesn’t get an announcement in the books either.
Last time I was at Kings Cross I had a homeless drug addict try to scam me into buying him alcohol.
A few weeks ago at Kings Cross I heard an American woman ask if the queue for platform 9 3/4 was for the 9:30 to Edinburgh.
“Yes it is. Best to take it a bit of a run up if you’re nervous”
i was at kings cross about 15 years ago to get a train back to edinburgh and they were filming the train departure scene for one of the films (cant remember which one). Killed some time watching a steam train slowly move 100m with a crowd of loud extras waving goodbye and then slowly reversing to refilm.
Think they did it about 10 times before i got on my train and they were still at it.
It costs nearly nothing to do an annoucement, and it brings joy to people.
Lots of grumpy people in this thread though lol.
“We aren’t doing it this year. We initially did it because its cute but now all you rabid grownups took it too far and its not fun anymore. Watch a thing on youtube instead. We’re not going to do it.”
Yes you are!
…nothing happens.
How dare you!
Imagine being the most embarrassing fandom in a world where my hero academia exists.
To those saying that this costs nothing and Network Rail are being spoil sports. If this was a bit of harmless fun then, yes, maybe they should keep it on. But it’s turned from that into a logistical and crowd management beast all so people can take selfies and shoot content.
This is all at a busy station with trains leaving every few minutes. Safety has to take priority, and when you have thousands of fans milling around all morning while dealing with many thousands more who are there to, you know, catch trains, it’s a huge problem. I’m not shocked that Network Rail thought “you know what, this isn’t really worth the effort.”
Plus it’s not as if there is nothing to do there. Take your picture at the Platform 9 3/4 sign, visit the Potter shop, and literally just experience being at Kings Cross station.
Absolute fucking sadacts.
So in true National Rail fashion, the Hogwarts Express has been cancelled because of delayed Engineering Works caused by the House Elves not being paid enough – Meaning the Wizards / Witches looking to start a new term will either have to find their own way to Hogwarts, or use the Rail Replacement Bus Service?
It’s sad as fuck to still be a Harry Potter fan
I feel bad for the actual train users.. passengers
The millennials need to let go, it’s 20 fucking years ago!
Embarrassing
Imagine being a Harry Potter fan in 2024
A lot of miserable pricks in here today.
Edit – case in point. Pricks.
Good. JK Rowling sucks.
I knew this was a thing but didn’t realise *that* many people turned up. I hate going to King’s Cross on a regular day never mind having to deal with this.
I remember travelling up to York a few years back and the queue for platform 9 3/4 was longer than the queues of people getting to actual trains. If it ends for the safety of those actually using the train station then its definitely not a bad thing.
Just put a sign up saying g the hogwarts express replacement bus service will be taking over due to line work
Proper virgins
I did enjoy that video of them all being disappointed, I might make this my new tradition.
I’ve had my train leave without an announcement at King’s Cross before too so it’s probably just a sign of the state of the railways.
What if it did actually happen and they just didn’t hear it cos of their muggle ears?
So, J K Rowling is anti trains as well?
Old news.
Elderly children upset that popculture from their youth is decreasing in cultural relevance as author becomes more unhinged on outmoded social media.
Reading the article I was mainly in support and agreement with the fans.
Then got to the line where it says they’ve been told months in advance there’s going to be no event. So honestly don’t know what they expected when they arrived and there was in fact no event.
Adult Harry Potter super fans, right up there with Disney adults for being weird.
They should tell them to use the floo network instead, just make sure they don’t go diagonally
I know Harry Potter has been a huge part of people’s lives (heck I even saw the first one in the cinema 7 times and have been to the WB Studio Tour twice!), but there has to be a point where you say it’s time to move on. Or at least become a little bit less obsessed.
