1. Biden in 2020 was the only candidate to receive more votes than the number who abstained. 2. More votes were cast for other candidates than the gap between the candidates for the main 2 parties 7 times. Those with the most votes in those elections were:
1. 1948, Truman 2. 1960, Kennedy 3. 1968, Nixon 4. 1992, B Clinton 5. 1996, B Clinton 6. 2000, Gore* 7. 2016, H Clinton*
* = Led the popular vote, lost the Electoral College.

Great graph. I’m fairly interested in presidential politics, but this is the first time I’ve realized Trump 2020 won the highest Republican share since frickin’ re-election Reagan!
Also what a fall for Johnson! Highest-ever in ’64 (sure, post-Kennedy assassination) only to drop out of the race in ’68 as a non-starter.
When yellow ties brown we are in good shape for a 2-party system.
Only way to do this is to make voting mandatory. Like Jury Duty. If you don’t vote you will get a fine.
