We're planning a family vacation that will include some time in Berchtesgaden. I've noticed that traditional hotels in Berchtesgaden are very expensive, but there are tons of listings for Gästehaus that are much more reasonable. I'm just wondering, what do I need to know about booking one of these? Would we be sharing a lot of space with other guests? Is more like staying in a hostel? Do they usually have a shared kitchen? What else should I be aware of before booking?
