  1. “Last generation” with protest action at Frankfurt Airport: “The problem is not the holiday”

Update from Wednesday, 4. September, 5:17 pm: No blockade of the runway at Frankfurt Airport, just a small rally. On Wednesday afternoon (4. September), a dozen climate activists of the “last generation” have called for more efforts in climate protection with reflective vests, posters and singing. Peacefully in Terminal one under the large scoreboard, they held up posters with inscriptions such as “Oil kills”, “Stop fossil subsidies” or “Climate honesty instead of criminalization”.

The protest is not directed against the travelers, said a speaker, but against politics. “The problem is not the holidays. The problem is the government.” In the chorus, demonstrators shouted: “Safety notice: oil kills. Don’t leave your federal government unattended.” [A musician with guitar sang Reinhard Mey’s “Über den Wolken” with re-sealed text: “In the climate collapse, freedom must be limitless”](https://youtu.be/WV7oLENfm18).

Security forces watched the demonstration from some distance. The police guarded entrances and exits. There was no feared transition of the activists to the runway. The passengers took little note of the action.
