Russians holiday at home as sanctions put Europe out of reach • FRANCE 24 English

Millions of Russians are spending their summer break at home this year as Western sanctions and travel restrictions shut the country off from most European tourism destinations. “It’s scary now,” says Olga, a Russian tourist, about travelling to Europe, adding, “For now, I think that Russia is every bit as good.”

  1. Hahahaaaaa! Europe is a small party of the world. If Europe weaponise their tourism why Russians don't tour other parts of the world? Africa,Asia, south America,…..?

  2. Sanctions are sanctions but it’s unfair for the average Russian citizen as they didn’t choose for their country to commit war crime atrocities & it’s not like they had a choice in who represents them !
Putin needs removing from his position & to be tried for his crimes.

  3. In the comments ruzzians snub Western Europe, but I remember very well how there were swarms of wealthy ruzzians visiting Europe for shopping before poootin ruined their lives. Nowadays they are much too stained with all the bloodshed in Ukraine to ever be welcomed again.

  4. If I were a Russian, I would visit Thailand China Indonessia India or Middle east because they totally different and cheaper. St Petersburg alone is way more beautiful than most European cities.

  5. Life in Russia is becoming more and more unbearable on a daily basis. We are starting to enter a phase of survival. We are not thinking about going on holiday abroad, but simply fleeing Russia.

  6. Excellent news! I know very well how the locals were treated by Russian tourists in many popular european destinations for them! Also, these people go on vacations and travel as if nothing is happening, and try to make us believe they are suffering, they are also victims and we should feel sorry for them?

  7. It is very unfortunate that Europe and the Western world have turned sports and tourism into politics
.Now, with all the Western products, I think the world's confidence has risen, they use their products as a weapon.

  8. If we look at the numbers, Europe has statistically never been the top travel destination for Russians. They have always largely traveled to Türkiye, Thailand, and Egypt/UAE.

  9. Putin has ruined Russia.

Russians can’t travel, their athletes can’t compete in internationals like the World Cup, Olympics and Champions League. Their wealth is diminishing, their talent is leaving. Their young is dying on the battlefield in their thousands each day.

  10. If you have an entire continent for a country, maybe you should explore that first. But the irony is, that it is not the Russian "dictatorship" that stops Russians from travelling, but the "free democratic West".

  11. It's quite fullish to think that abroud is only Europe. The world is huge and you will find Russian tourist s almost every where. But I glad some leave money inside Russia instead of N A T O countries

  12. Russians never had visa free travel to the EU so went to Turkey or Egypt I believe 🙄, or they travel to their dacha’s outside Moscow in the countryside, most have never been to Europe so no big deal.
