I’m surprised it hasn’t been talked about yet, but Brazilian Bruna Alexandre is the only athlete to have competed in both the Olympics and the Paralympics

  1. Natalie du Toit, swimmer from South Africa, also did that: 2004-12 at the Paralympics (13 golds) and 2008 at the Olympics.

Edit: I re-read again and saw you talked about these last Olympic Games.

  2. There was two as far as I’m aware this year, the other being Melissa Tapper, an Australian who also competes in table tennis.

  3. No she’s not, there are quite a few who have competed in both Olympics and Paralympics. I would say Oscar Pistorius is easily the best known example. But Aussie Melissa Tapper also represented her country in Table Tennis at Both the Olympics and Paralympics in Rio, Tokyo and Paris.

  4. I feel like if you’re competing in the Olympics you shouldn’t be competing in the paralympics.

I get that you can qualify for both but the spirit of the paralympics is to include those whose disabilities preclude them from participating in the Olympics.

  5. Oh damn, I thought she used to be a normal Olympian, but then had an accident or something that rendered her disabled and now she’s a Paralympian.

  6. I think OP meant the same edition and year of Olympic and Paralympic Games. Honestly kinda crazy that someone qualified for the Olympic Games with a Paralympic injury
