Is a kitchen not an “integral part of the rental property”?

So this is my first experience renting here in Germany, however I’ve been here for a year.

I am a Student, which unfortunately feels like a green light for my landlord/agency to not care a lot about my treatment or they are just terrible landlords in general, but I’m not going to go into why now.

The contract started from the first of September and the apartment was advertised with a Kitchen, which was one of the biggest selling points as to why I chose it.

On the day of the Schlüssel Übergabe, I checked all aspects of the apartment and the oven, stove AND water in the kitchen were not working. Alongside the fact that although the fridge and freezer worked, the door of the freezer wouldn’t close fully which meant I couldn’t use it or there would be issues. The person from the agency told me they will make a Termin with the Hausmeister to switch on all these devices for me (They are switched on at the electricity box and there is electricity in the whole house but I assumed maybe there’s something I don’t know that needs to be done) sure, no issues.

Next week comes and I contact the company regarding the Termin only to be told the Hausmeister is sick and the nearest Termin I can have is the week after that (this week), meaning that I have now stayed in the apartment for 9 days without a working kitchen advertised in the apartment posting. This has caused me to spend a lot of money on eating outside.

I informed the company about this and asked for a possible week’s deduction in rent for next month and was denied as it is not an integral part of the rental agreement.

Now I am a busy student and will probably not get a lawyer or take this down a further path which they probably already know and are relying on, but this plus a billion other reasons why this company have proven they are completely useless and unprofessional really frustrated me.

So I guess all I wanted to ask is, can I stress this further? Or is that an actual thing here where I shouldn’t expect the advertised kitchen to work from the get go?
