Since when do councils notify you of a PCN via text… I don’t think I’ll be clicking the link

  1. Forward that text to 7726 (spells SPAM on a T9 keyboard) it gets reported to your network who can investigate further and may block the number or pass details on police etc

  2. These scams are getting out of hand.

I feel terrible for any of the naive/vulnerable people who fall for this stuff.

Something more excessive needs doing about these parasites.

  3. The councils would never call it a fine as it’s a civil matter not a criminal one, hence why they’re refered to as PCNs.

  4. I got the same one. Thought it strange they didn’t quote my reg, the car park or council name!

  5. I’ve had 50 scam texts and emails in the past 2 weeks. Coincidentally starting 1 day after logging in to Facebook for the first time in years.

  6. So the local council won;’t say who they are, which car park you were in, nor does their name appear as the sender, just the fake mobile number!

  7. A council will always give you the option to pay a PCN or appeal against it if you think it was issued incorrectly. They wouldn’t just tell you to pay it.

  8. They don’t:

    * notify you from a mobile number.
    * refer to themselves as “a local council”
    * use informal language
    * direct you to a URL in Germany.

  9. You better pay it quick or you’ll have to pay 50% more. amazing how they knew your mobile number from your car reg

  10. Lols, literally got the same text today.

Odd one cos my phone number isnt linked to any of my car reg stuff. Car-related fines would have to come by post, like my vehicle tax reminder.

  11. Just remember the simple logic that you paying it outside the grace time window means they get more money. They have absolutely no reason to proactively notify you of PCNs beyond the bare minimum required sticker on the windshield

  12. I love how it says “a local council”. I mean, I really don’t know how you could be more specific than that 😂

  13. I just got the exact same text at the same time. Can’t wait to find out which “local council” has charged me.

  14. Why do these scammers never get anyone to actually proof read their phishing copy

It’s like they’ve never actually seen a PCN before
