Kursk offensive fails to materialze into ‘game changer’, Ukraine needs ‘new strategic plan’

Russia struck the city of Lviv in western Ukraine on Wednesday, killing seven people and damaging historical buildings in a rare attack hundreds of kilometres from the frontline. The strike came as several Ukrainian ministers, including top diplomat Dmytro Kuleba, offered their resignations, part of a major reshuffle President Volodymyr Zelensky said would bring “new energy” to government. Russia has stepped up its aerial attacks on Ukraine since Kyiv launched an unprecedented cross-border offensive into Russia’s Kursk region last month. As Zelensky seeks to reenergize the government and revitalize the war effort, amid fierce fighting, FRANCE 24 is joined by Dr. Paolo Pizzolo, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for International Studies and Development of the Jagiellonian University of KrakΓ³w.

  1. Why do French commentators insist on the very Russian claim that the Ukrainian government is illegitimate ?
The Ukrainian constitution freezes the government until the war is over. Kremlin talking points might be something to actively avoid.
The Ukrainians never said this was to be a 'gamechanger', that was the product of armchair generals speculating.

  2. somehow i think zelensky wasnt acting on his own, its like someone behind him telling to do what most of the time? do you guys actually believe he is capable of making strategic decisions?

  3. How the heck did you come to that stupid silly conclusion that the Kursk offensive was a failure? Based on what? Right now Russia is shaking and Putin is gone far away hiding from the real problem. Drones are flying everywhere above Moscow, and Putin is in Mongolia telling goodnight stories of his kids talking Chinese at home.

  4. I agree with Zelensky, Ukraine needs new people. Including a change of president from Volodymir the loser to Vladimir Vladimirovich the hero.

  5. Ukraine needs support from coward Western leaders. These leaders have surrendered to Putin. It is no wonder that Asian and African leaders do not trust and rely on coward Western leaders who are easily intimidated by monster Putin and his false threats.

  6. France24 has someone with common sense running their organization. They seem to be having genuine and logical discussions this days. Looks like France is tired of the war and wants it to end. Ordinary people are dying which must stop.

  7. If you look at the Donbass Front, when it was Pre-Kursk the Russians were advancing 15sqkms, but Post-Kursk it is now 30sqkms. The Units in Kursk were supposed to relieve those in the Donbass, and the latest videos from the front are showing entire Ukrainians units retreating on foot from their previous positions. The Ukrainians in Kursk has so far lost 100+ armored vehicles against Russian 70+, and the majority of Ukrainians losses are light armored vehicles while Russia has lost mostly heavier equipment.

  8. Russia won this war . Zelensky will send Ukrainian women, older MEN ,The Homeless( homeless Polish MEN , young Ukrainian teenagers Eskimos Bolivians Aborigines then ,He will take his money and gold ,private plane and escape to Los Angeles
