  1. Good idea I guess but those expensive little plane bottles are not how these people are getting hammered…….

  2. That sounds incredibly reasonable – what’s the longest Ryanair flight? If you *need* to chug three drinks on a 2 hour flight, you have a serious problem.

  3. If anyone needs more than 1 or 2 pints to “settle the nerves” they should be on anti-anxiety meds.

Nothing worse than being stuck on a boozed up party bus flight. The noise I can handle with noise cancelling earphones but the risk of the flight being diverted because of the rowdyness is unacceptable.

  4. > Nats said last year that the problems at Gatwick Airport had been caused by “an extremely rare set of circumstances” involving its technical infrastructure.

  5. I haven’t seen many people get steaming on a flight. It’s usually in that 2 hour window when people are at the airport bar. Meaning they are already hammered before boarding

  6. I’m old enough to remember flights with a smoking section at the back. The argument was that everybody would stop flying if it was banned.

When it was banned what happened? Nothing except more pleasant flights for everybody else.

It would be the same with alcohol. Just ban it on flights and refuse to let pissed people through the gate.

Are people seriously going to stop flying because they can’t drink alcohol until they arrive at their destination?

PS: in case you haven’t guessed, I am a non-drinker and it is fkn disgusting to sit next to somebody who stinks of alcohol on a flight.

  7. I don’t ever drink on planes as i get motion sickness and all that

But what stops someone to buy a bottle of their preferred alcohol in duty free area and a few cans/btls of coke before flight or mid flight and just drink that? Can’t see myself paying i can only assume £5-£10 a drink mid flight when you can easily get trashed for much much cheaper

  8. Tomorrow: Michael O’Cunt announces the new standard spirit measure on Ryanair flights will be the pint

  9. Sounds reasonable.

Maybe 3 for overnight flights….though I guess that isn’t ryanairs turf.

Can’t recall seeing anyone severely sloshed in years though. Maybe its more of an issue of budget airlines to places like Ibiza

  10. Of course he is because it means you buy more beer from Ryan Air. This will only be enforced in the UK so not much point really. How many stories have we seen of drunken unruly passengers on the way out? Not many at all. It’s always on the way back.

  11. Just ban alcohol on flights and airports altogether, no-one wants to sit next to someone that stinks of booze, I’m sure they can go a few hours without a drink.

  12. Well great I guess I’ll need to pick a different airline if I want to break Wade Boggs’ record.

  13. Ryanair getting free media coverage again by O’Leary chatting shite. He does this every year, he knows what he’s doing.

  14. Quote – ‘ “If the price of putting a drink limit on the airport, where the problem is being created, is putting a drink limit on board the aircraft, we’ve no problem with that’. Airports unlikely to do this.

  15. Stop serving alcohol in airports and cheap flights. I’m sorry but we all know and have probably experienced a bunch of drunken asdholes (m+f) in airports and on flights….

Stop with the inane stupidity of excess alcohol consumption

Let’s put a stop to it. No I’m not rich and I drink modestly.

  16. If you can’t go a full day travelling without alcohol, YOU ARE AN ALCOHOLIC and you should not be drinking anyway.

If you think (do you 🤔?) it’s your right to be belligerent, obnoxious, loud, and truly repulsive then maybe a cash fine of £10 per passenger (entire manifest) before you are allowed to leave the destination airport. Ideally also tagged in some way obvious to bars not to serve or allow you to be served might help.

Yes, you alcoholic fuckwuts annoy me and I’ll happily see you punished.

  17. I know people LOVE to shit on Ryanair and O’Leary historically comes out with deliberately bizarre takes to get publicity, but he’s 100% right on this one – airports allow people to basically get hammered at 7am once they’re through security.

Unless they’re breathalysing people at the gate, what can they realistically do?
