Putin warns West it risks “fighting Russia” if it lets Ukraine use long-range missiles | BBC News

Russia’s President Putin has warned that the United States and European countries would be “directly participating” in the war in Ukraine if they lift restrictions on it using long-range missiles to strike Russian territory.

He said that would change the nature of the conflict and mean the US and other NATO countries were “fighting with Russia”.

It comes as the United States and Nato allies consider whether to allow Ukraine to use the long-range missiles they’ve supplied to attack targets within Russia.

Mr Putin has repeatedly warned in the past that Russia could escalate the conflict and might use nuclear weapons if its security was threatened.

  2. The West is playing with fire. I don’t have a good feeling about this. The elites are diabolical, they will sacrifice all of us on the alter of war. I’ve been non partisan and non committal to both sides in the US election but the democratic war machine will put us all in jeopardy. Trump must be elected for the sake of all our lives and futures.

  14. Ukraine's only way out is to start WW3. Thats what they keep pushing for from the start. 3 years later Russia can not be beaten, they keep puring money and weapons with no result. NATO countries are broke and getting desperate, people are fed up seeinng their taxes go up, benefits cut and then the next day £500 million sent to Ukraine.

    It is already striking with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles and other means. But when it comes to using high–precision long-range Western-made weapons, it's a completely different story.
    The fact is that, as I have already said, and any experts will confirm this (both here and in the West), the Ukrainian army is not able to strike with modern high-precision long-range systems of Western production. It can't do that.
    This is possible only with the use of satellite data, which Ukraine does not have — this is data only from satellites of either the European Union or the United States, in general, from NATO satellites.

    The second, and very important, perhaps key, is that flight missions to these missile systems can, in fact, only be carried out by military personnel of NATO countries. Ukrainian servicemen cannot do this.

It's about deciding whether NATO countries are directly involved in a military conflict or not. If this decision is made, it will mean nothing more than the direct participation of NATO countries, the United States, and European countries in the war in Ukraine.
    This is their direct involvement. And this, of course, significantly changes the very essence, the very nature of the conflict.
    This will mean that NATO countries, the United States, and European countries are at war with Russia.
    And if this is the case, then, bearing in mind the change in the very essence of this conflict, we will make appropriate decisions based on the threats that will be created to us."

  39. Russia has proven the only thing they have of any consequence is Soviet era nukes. Considering their military leaders sold the uniforms they couldn’t equip their soldiers with, it’s doubtful they kept up the maintenance required to prevent degradation.

The ignorance on the comments is extraordinary, the war is finished lost, nato started this war by trying to expand in Ukraine, nato is killing Ukrainians everyday through their own ego and until the American election is over , fyi Russia lost over 20 million people during the Second World War, they defeated hitler not America or Britain, their economy is far better than shitty Uk and Europe that can’t produce anything
