I'm not sure I can take watching it at the cinema but will definitely get a digital copy/ Wonderful movie, I cried, was terrified and uplifted. Perfect

  1. Great film, makes me nostalgic for the Hampshire countryside.

  2. Absolutely cannot watch.

Even hearing “Bright Eyes” sets me off.

    Genuinely traumatic childhood experience.

  3. Dear BBC from the 80s.

THIS IS NOT A CHILDREN’S FILM

    Thank you, a traumatised generation.

  4. Ahh yes animated rabbit blood splatter in rich 4K detail 👌

  5. I watched it at the cinema first time around. No way I’m doing that again

  6. I’m still terrified of this film (the diggers, the field of blood, the wire, General freaking Woundwort) and traumatised from the black rabbit coming to get Hazel. How did anyone think this was a kids film…!

  7. Hands down this is the most terrifying film ever released.

  8. I watched the newer animated one and thought it was fantastic. Lots of naturalist fiction around that time had a brutality to it, but a lot of philosophy too. I’m reading Duncton Wood right now and I’m expecting some trauma from that

  9. The book is a really good read as an fyi (Watership down )

  10. Parents rented this on video when I was a child for my birthday thinking it was a cute cartoon film about rabbits, the reality was traumatically different.

  11. Should I take my 2 year old to the cinema to see this.

Think that was about how old I was when I had this ‘childrens cartoon’ put on.

  12. Excellent, I’ll take my young Niece, and Nephew to watch it at the cinema…

  13. Plague Dogs is far more harrowing than Watership Down. I am an old man and I can’t watch it.

  14. ‘Hey kids, I got this cute bunny film for you to watch!’

  15. Traumatic, but for Keogh’s bellowed “Piss Off!” The high point of the film.

    Peeg Vater!

  16. I’m 50 and have only seen this once…. And that was terrifying… Never again.

  17. The original was single handedly the most terrifying thing I have ever witnessed

  18. I had a first edition of the book, it was abit tattered but I liked owning it.. some muggle with no appreciation for historic literature threw it away but that’s muggles for ya

  19. This, The Plague Dogs, the Harpy from The Last Unicorn and Calibos from Clash of the Titans. Thanks, parents, for providing such rich fodder for my childhood nightmares.

  20. Still my favorite film of all time…

Which makes a lot of people uncomfortable for some reason!

  21. Now I can cry in 4k, perfect. Next I want The Plague Dogs remastered.
