The monarchy’s more tactile, informal approach is a sign of a generational leap between reigns

  1. Good it needed to change. They’re human, not robots. Saw the Black Ferns tiktok about meeting the king and them trying to figure out how to curtsy was hilarious. One player even called Charles bruv and he rolled with it

  2. I’m going to be interested to see if this is a long term change, as the example used was an off the cuff moment, and what are the ‘non-negotiables’ and what can fall by the wayside.  We’ve already seen a bit of change in dress with Kate even appearing to skip the hoisery with the South Korean visit (the late Queen’s views on dress were rooted in dated concepts of femininity and modesty), but certain things like the role and respect towards the monarch are so deeply ingrained that I will be surprised to see them actually go away.

  3. Charles has always rolled with things like this. Its not new for him. Camilla though is more formal in her approach.
