Put a couple of signs up for a group clean up next weekend to get them out. Be the change you want to see.
I’d bet a fair amount that it’s the result of teenagers who are parented badly and have experienced little consequence of their actions.
Oh it’s the trolley mating season. Beautiful fellas. Oh look there’s a lesser crested Sainsbury!
Disgusting
I see the rewilding of the great british shopping trolly is coming along nicely
I was expecting to see a couple at it at first
Meanwhile other people will be doing something about it……..
Don’t supermarkets have those trolleys that stop wheeling once you leave the boundary? Or was that always a lie?
I want to know what that duck did to end up in shopping trolley prison.
You can perhaps report these on that trolley reporting site/app and just say there are loads along here in the water. They might be able to send some guys out with waders to collect them all, I think they make money from charging the supermarkets for returning them.
If they can’t do collections from this area, local council is probably responsible. You can report to them.
Someone probably comes to clear them from time to time without reporting if it’s a known hotspot
Get to it Bubbles
Problem is, supermarkets sell them too cheap – only £1 each.
Sucks
Nothing pisses me off more than this. Littering and just not giving a shit about your surroundings like do you enjoy living like an animal?
Worst one I remeber is some guy finished eating his takeaway, jumped out his driver seat started cleaning his car in the car park threw out a wrappers, bottles, his left over food you name it. When a bin was literally a few metres away.
What I never understand about people that post and film this, why not drag it out yourself? It’s 2 foot deep and you’re a human being that lives there. Instead of crying for clout, get stuck in and be the example.
Majority of people don’t give a single crap about the environment. Baffled there are people that still litter. Throwing stuff out of car windows etc… get a grip
Supermarkets are directly responsible for the removal of dumped trolleys.
There’s an app/website called Trolleywise that you can use to report them.
I don’t understand why people go to the bother of it. It’s not even the laziness you get with people that simply drop litter. You’re right it is disgusting behaviour.
Classic UK keeping it classy lol
It’s Bubbles from trailer park boys throwing them over the railing. Don’t worry he’ll come to pick those carts up later haha!
Look I’m not saying it’s good or bad to do this but we have all done it many many many many times right?
Rather than walk my trolley a few metres back to the dropping off zone it’s easier for me to lift it above my head and hurl it over the metal railing trying to eliminate as many invasive bird species as I can in the process!
It’s hard honestly work and I think I should be thanked for it not shamed on Reddit!
Also who are you to judge my sleeping arrangements? I like dipping my toes in cold water to wake myself up and a floating water mattress is a great solution!
The Aquatic Trolley is, though seen by many, recognised by few. It is a shy creature, one that blends in well with its fellow trolleys in captivity at the supermarket, a place where it has little to distinguish it from its more social cousins. Though seemingly content in the asphalt plains of the parking lot, the Aquatic Trolley is always drawn to water, when given the opportunity.
The seldom-seen saltwater species is something of a loner in the ocean, rarely found in captivity, as it only briefly comes to shore, preferring instead to spend its days drifting quietly in the shallows, feeding on shoals of frisky wire baskets. The freshwater species is far more likely to turn up in captivity, as it is well-known to enjoy basking in the sun on riverside pathways. Here, it is much more likely to be mistaken for a domestic trolley, and rounded up to join the supermarket herds.
Shy as it is, however, the freshwater trolley is a cunning beast, indeed. If we are lucky enough to observe a herd long enough long enough, we will soon see a hurried dash, a glittering flash, and the ever-clumsy skitter of a freshwater trolley as makes a break for freedom.
Unerring in its instincts, the trolley with quickly find its way to a rivulet or canal, splashing eagerly back into its native habitat. Here, it will enjoy the feel of water again, experimenting with its particular preference. Will it reside in the reeds, or slumber in the shadow of a bridge? Will it roll on its side in a shining display, seeking to attract a mate? Each trolley is distinct, its personality unfurling in its returned freedom.
It is a delight to see a freshwater trolley embracing its true nature. Before long, perhaps sensing the tenuous grasp on freedom it has found so near to its place of captivity, it will slip beneath the waters and find its way downstream to deeper, cooler waters. We bid you a fair voyage, trolley, and can only wonder what mysterious life you shall lead in the rural waters in which you will find yourself.
Do they not have trolley immobilisers?
Go 2 yards away from my local Asda and the trolley turns into a wire brick.
I’ve never understood the appeal of dumping a trolley in a river
The Trolley Problem is an entirely different conundrum in the UK 🙁
