  1. [North American Video game consoles release price without inflation](https://i.redd.it/gcvd7s2943pd1.png)

Source: **Wikipedia** for release dates and some release prices. Other release prices had to be sourced from other sites and forums, like the TurboGrafx-16.

Tool: **Google Sheets** mainly with **Adobe Illustrator** used to add the legend.

Note: All systems names are listed how they were on Wikipedia. The Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 should be on top of one another but I nudged the PS5 over so it was readable.

  2. I recall ps3 being expensive at the time, but the next best bluray player cost even more. Some bought it for bkuray primarily and the fact that it played games was just a bonus.

  3. Didn’t the PS5 and Series X retail for $500? Is that already considered $600 in today’s money after 4 years of inflation?

  4. Missing the Super88 System which came out for $2. Sadly wasn’t bundled with Mario Twins, but still good value.

  5. The real question is how to graph this according to buying power. Median wage has not kept up with inflation, so things now seem more expensive, despite accounting for inflation.
