Xi warns Putin: ‘Don’t even THINK of going nuclear’

“China has made it pretty clear to Putin…don’t even think of going nuclear.”

President Xi has instructed Putin to steer clear of deploying nuclear weapons because his war in Ukraine has “already got us dictators a bad name”, Lord Dannatt tells #TimesRadio.

  9. Let Putin declare war on nato … so ? If he wants a real asswhooping it’s fine I mean he can’t handle a small neighbor … and the nuke thing is useless the USA wins or the planet loses it is what it is vlad fafo

  11. Even without nuclear weapons "dictators have a bad name".
    For Putin it can also be solved in a better way. Just stop this senseless war, withdraw your forces and give Ukraine it's territory back. Then they will also stop attacking Russia's oil industry and others. The war with nukes can never be won, so forget about that. Russia can normally exist if it just quits this war, why can't Putin just not understand that?

Just like Trump, his own interests will always take priority and he has no intention of ever risking his own death. This is a man who sat 25m from his own staff during Covid!

  15. Before start of the war Boris Johnston who had orchestrated Brexit went to Ukraine to make sure Ukrainians would not sign a peace deal with russians.

    These are facts. You had your Brexit and at the same time made sure that there was a war in Europe. Who are you fooling?

    Why dont you bring George Galloway to have a debate with you. Did Nato liberate Libya or Iraq???

    What is the reason for having millions of refugees in Europe? At the same time cutting pensioners benefits with miserable NHS situation to fund the war in Ukraine..

  32. Hmmm… Lord Dannatt doesn't seem to have clearly answered the question about what the West would/should do if Putin does indeed go full madman and uses tactical nukes, even on claimed Russian territory. That does not inspire confidence in the West's contingency planning.

  33. This war could go on for years tbh both leaders from Russia/Ukraine are way too stubborn to agree any peace deal. I dont think any nuclear weapons would be used by russia because using nuclear is like saying we want all life destroyed and no1 would give anyone the go ahead for that. Im not sure what the end game is here unless both sides agree on concessions.

  34. This is always about power. If you have power in your hands you can do what ever you want. There is no human rights No humanity. Just power hungry and greedy ones are having control of the planet. There is no need for this meaning less war.

  37. It's a gambit to cow the West into causing the ROEs imposed on Ukrainian forces to be as narrow as possible to help the Russian front.
    The Ukranians need as much materiale and as free of a hand as possible to dominate as soon as possible, rather than barely defend themselves indefinitely and somewhat tenouously.
