Is this that two-tier policing I keep hearing about, then?

Sends a strong message that the judiciary sees p43dophilia as less serious than shouting at a dog.

Genetically, pedophiles have more genes in common with crabs than they do with you and me.
He doesn’t have to go to prison for his life to be absolutely wrecked. He is famous and this is public knowledge so he’s likely never going to work again or be able to socialise in public again. He’s going to be ostracised by pretty much everyone including very likely his own family. He’s effectively under a self inflicted house arrest.
Defund the BBC.

Not long enoughΒ
So, let me get this straight, a man waved a stick at some counter-protestors and got a custodial sentence. But a nonce that paid for images of minors get’s a suspended sentence? Regardless of profile, it’s all so backwards.
No wonder this country is falling apart at the seams..
What a joke.
Is this a third tier?
Class Images of a child ages 7. Even the grooming gangs donβt go that low.
So people get jailed for tweets this guy grooms a kid and accesses CP and escapes a custodial sentence. The justice system is broken in the UK.
I’m guessing his sentence is suspended to ease prison overcrowding (and maybe his status helped). Another disgrace slapped on the wristπ

***The Telegraph reports:***
Huw Edwards has avoided an immediate prison sentence after pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
Paul Goldspring, Chief Magistrate, sentenced him to six months imprisonment suspended for two years.
He also ordered the former BBC presenter to undertake a sex offenders treatment programme.
Edwards will also have to comply with a rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR) order.
