Paris pedestrianises another massive street, leaves London lagging

  1. While it’s all great.  The cities are not really comparable like this and not really facing the exact same issues…. Or rather the same problems won’t have the same solutions.

    Like there’s a strong argument for London to pedestrianise Soho. Rather than looking for a big wide road to go for.   

    And London’s congestion charge is way ahead of Paris (last time I checked)  

    The big “problem” roads in London would tough without a rethink of busses.  Like the roads I’d like to do would be Shaftesbury avenue, Tottenham court road and maybe farringdon.   But they don’t have much in the way of alternatives.

  2. Yes pedestrianise the entire oxford street. And the shops can have supplies delivered by horse and carriage, as in the old days, you know, before cars took over all the free space in the city. 

    Last time I checked, cities were built for people, not cars.
