What fresh hell is this? Stand-up tribute acts. Do you think he just does Kay’s old material or does he come up with his own Peter Kay style jokes? Either sounds terrible to me.

  1. In my tired state I thought you were moaning about actual Peter Kay and was confused. I also thought Peter Kay had aged a bit.

It was only when everything came into focus that it all made sense

  2. These types of shows have been around forever, particularly common in working men’s clubs, holiday camps or as a “dinner and show” evening. I really don’t see it as being different to any other tribute act like “An Evening with Meatloaf/Elton John/The Carpenters” etc, where they dress and play the part for the evening.

I work in theatre myself and have seen some real shockers!

  3. Do you think he goes to Sci fi conventions as Peter Kay’s slug monster from Doctor Who?

  4. That’s pretty weird but to be honest if it was the David Brent impersonator I’d be snapping up tickets in a heartbeat.

  5. This is weird, I was thinking only yesterday that there is a long history of tribute bands why not comedians, perhaps a copyright issue, then you post this

It’s somehow worse than I imagined. Even in his showreel, you can hear the deathly silence in the audience.

Also, you’d expect someone who’s copying someone else’s jokes, you’d at least be able to get the timing right?

  7. Is Marc Bolton a hybrid tribute to T. Rex and Michael Bolton?
