Russia has lost about 600,000 dead and wounded in Ukraine so in many ways this is replacing them. Russia has struggled against the part time army of Ukraine and in nearly three years of the invasion has failed to secure the eastern oblasts. Putin must be very disappointed by the SMO he thought would roll over Ukraine in a few days.
