This is what should have been done… This is the play that Ter Stegen and any DM (other than Eric Garcia) plays together since 2014… But Eric shit himself after he saw that the opponent is behind him and expected Ter Stegen to kick out the ball like in some 2nd division team…

  1. It’s still very risky compared to what you can gain unless your DM is really fast and press resistant

  2. Oe maybe… just maybe… he should’ve passed to Pau or Iñigo rather than pass it to Eric were he is heavily marked.

  3. True Barca always tries to play out of the back and Ter Stagen is known for his passes in his own half.

Yes it is risky but not unusual imo for Barca/Ter Stagen at least

  4. That’s exactly what MATS and Pedri did 5-10 minutes later, so it seemed like an instruction they had.

  5. Everybody’s like “he had better options” when the same play has been done forever. It was a just timing bad luck. For a split second Eric turned the other way when T.S. passed, as you can see in the pic.

  6. I know everyone blames TS, but eric also fucked up. he started sprinting towards the keeper and then stopped after TS decided to pass to him. basicly both of them should have done better.

  7. Delusional take. Minamino is pressing eric and play should change accordingly. and this is champions league, the teams you are facing are also not segunda division level.

  8. While I agree that should’ve been the play, I think MATS should’ve passed half a second earlier. Eric Garcia starts getting too close to Embolo which is probably why he abruptly changes direction.

  9. You know how about a very new groundbreaking special pass they teach in the training and which you learn after playing football for years is to just pass to an unmarked teammate?

  10. Orrrr….. don’t risk stupid passes to player under the pressure. Matts had a stinker of the game, he missed easy passes few times (fortunetly Monaco was shit at converting), both goals are on him (more or less) also. We have no proper replacement so we are stuck with him this season anyway. No point in making excuses. He is our worst player this campaign. Accept it and move on.
