After the blatant corruption of the Boris/Truss/Sunak years, it’s good to see a new approach to the responsibilities of public office. It’s good to see that Labour offer leadership that is humble and responsible enough to say to donors that we cannot continue like this. We need change, not another change of clothing: our wardrobe’s full. We need change. Real change of furniture, change of housing, change of domestic services, change of online subscriptions. From Burnley to Barrowford, this was what people voted for.
It probably won’t be too long before the sun, or the daily wail, has another go at Angela Rayner for the clothes she wears. They had a go at her before, accusing her of wearing “revealing attire” in the commons chamber to “distract conservative MPs”. The insinuation being that because she came from a working class background, she lacks “class” and is therefore unsuitable for office.

We have to cope with years of trivial ‘scandals’ none of which will mount up to a few rolls of golden wall paper or one dodgy PPE contract
