Everyone says get M&S socks. But why the fudge are they so loooong?? I have the correct size but don’t understand the length. I presumed they should be mid calf?

  1. Because theyre long socks? Some like that and shop for it. They will sell pairs that aren’t as long

Accidently had a pair similar from uniqlo, nice in winter but annoying when they fall down and bunch

  2. Mid-calf wouldn’t be a great length as the elastic would be sitting on the widest part of your calf and would easily roll down the narrowing leg below; by going over the bulge of your calf muscle they should stay up better as they’re sitting at a narrower point under your knee and would need to roll down over the wider muscle which they’re less likely to do.

  3. I need some of these. I have a lot of insect bites on my legs and have found covering the bites with my socks helps slightly at resisting the urge to itch. However my socks don’t go high enough to cover all of them.

  4. Socks come in many different lengths, from below the ankle to above the knee. Buy whatever length socks you prefer.

  5. Did the label say anything about the length?

I don’t think I’ve ever wound up with the wrong length socks unless I just wasn’t paying attention.

But maybe you just got ‘lucky’?

  6. Sounds like you need a responsible adult to go out shopping with you to read the labels or show you the pictures🙄

  7. Throw some sandals over top those bad boys, add some khaki shorts and a carabiner key loop and you’re the office IT guy.

  8. They’re from a more noble time, when inadvertently showing ankle at the office would have you put on gardening leave for a month before being transferred to the Outer Hebridean branch

  9. Long socks are awesome. I’d wear thigh-highs if I could find men’s sizes in warm wooden rather than drag queen nylon.

  10. This is besides the point, but OP you have the legs perfectly reminiscent of a disgraced 1980s civil servant. Just need the blushing apologetic secretary caught in the act and you’re sorted.

  11. 1 you’re short and bought normal socks.
2 you’re tall and bough stockings.
3 you’re blind and bought school girl socks.

Only possibilities I can think of.

Also I dislike M and S socks they make my feet too sweaty. It’s probably imposter syndrome where I know I am not posh enough for M&S.
