  1. Im tempted to go Mary Peters.

She doesnt come with a lot of the baggage the other shite hawks come with (ie – Best and his alcoholism and wife beating) and was actually a trail blazer that left a legacy we still see today.

  2. Joey Dunlop. Has to be.

Or Michael if the person has to be alive still. Jonathan Rea another noteworthy shout.

  3. Can we just fast forward to the Best Video?

    Roll on The King Thing

  4. Not a fan of him or the sport, but I’d say our most perpetually under-recognised / appreciated Sportstar is Jonathan Rea. His achievements within his sport are virtually unmatched.

    My vote is Jonathan Rea.

  5. David Healy, solely for beating the English in our back yard.

  6. Dennis Taylor for the glasses alone (Snooker’s a real sport, right?), or Barry McGuigan just for being a thoroughly decent person at the right times.

  7. Not into the bikes at all but it has to be Joey, phenomenal rider and by all accounts a brilliant fella too, didn’t he used to personally drive van loads of stuff to various charities all over Europe?
