It’s not “final” if the union won’t accept it. This kind of tactic is simply ridiculous. Otherwise management should try building planes themselves, see how that flies.
For those that are unfamiliar, the key issue that is preventing an agreement seems to be the fact that Boeing eliminated an employee pension plan 10 years ago and won’t bring it back. Thus the demands for significant pay raises to offset the loss of retirement benefits.
I don’t know enough about the situation to take sides but 30% over 4 years seems like a pretty good raise. Again I don’t know what they lost to start this so may be worse.
They want their pensions back.
People aren’t dropping dead at 65 anymore, and companies will fire your ass at 60 anyway and nobody but Walmart will hire you.
