My problem with Asllani is not that he’s bad because all of Inter is going through a bad time right now, from the owners to the managers to the players and everyone else part of the team.

My problem with Asllani is that since 2022, he has been the same player with not 1% growth. Physically, he is still weak and unpleasant to watch. He receives the ball and passes it back to the goalkeeper or defense without any creativity. It’s very very rare that he does something impressive. And any game that he starts, we suffer in. I don’t remember any game where he started and we won comfortably. We always suffer and might even draw/lose.

  1. Last season, he was a good sub because we didn’t ever need him to start because Hakan was always in peak fitness. However, this season Hakan is not at his best fitness-wise so Asllani is getting more minutes and is almost a starter at some points. I hope he shocks me and grows in the future because he is still young. But for now and to this point in time, this player is a weakness in our team.

  2. Wouldn’t mind seeing how he fares as a starter on a team with less pressure although I’d hate to lose a promising sub. I just don’t see him exceeding his potential as a depth player.

  3. He hasnt grown as much as most expected. True is also that he didnt get the minutes to “grow”. So this season, with most of the starters from last season either injured, lack fitness or are already tired, he gets more minutes but so far, hasnt shown what the others at top performance show.

He lacks pace and is not helpful with teams in ball posession. What he strives at is when the team plays against a low block or when Inter builds up. But this season so far, we barely saw it from either team nor Asllani himself.

  4. I believe he is not suited for the regista role and it would do him a world of good to play as a mezzala. Our two best registas didn’t start out as ones but evolved into the role with experience.

  5. People say it’s lack of gametime but look at Bisseck, came a year ago, very little playtime and still improved to the point he benches Pavard at Eithad.

You either got it or not, Inzaghi sees them everyday in training he knows better than us.

If it’s just not playing we should loan him, but he is not even that good in his nt imo.

  6. Versus AC Asllani came on for Calha.
    Calha played 63 mins
    Asllani played 33

    Here their passing stats
    Total passes
    Calha 33 | 37 Asllani
    Succesfull passes
    Calha 97% | 100% Asllani
    Forward passes
    Calha 19 | 19 Asllani
    Passes into final third
    Calha 5 | 6 Asllani

I’m not saying Asllani is better than Calha (because he’s not). I do however think that Asllani was quite cautious when he initially came into the team and part of the supporters have labelled him as a cautious player and now suffer from confirmation bias.

Also it is a lot harder to play regista when Frattesi is on the field (compare Mkhi’s heatmap to Frattesi’s).

  7. Idk, I think he’s a good player but he shouldn’t play as a replacement to Çalhanoğlu, Asllani doesn’t have the positional awareness , physicality or speed to play that role.

The problem is Inzaghi doesn’t see him as anything but a substitute for Çalhanoğlu.

  8. In my humble (and prob worthless) opinion, Asllani is doing great.
He is a young, agile, technical, and tactically aware player. Not the type of player you see popping up everyday. Regista role requires a LOT of experience and field awareness from a player, which he is still developing. Inzaghi knows that to burn him right off the hop is detrimental to his development.
Do you guys remember Brozo in his first years with us? Never really found himself as mezzala, he even played as winger if memory serves me right, not until later in his stint with us, did he find his position – regista.
So let’s bring it down a few notches and have some faith that the club, and our coach, knows wtf they’re doing.
    Peace out

  9. The main problem is that he always plays with Frattesi, who is not the best companion for him. He should be given more chances as a starter with Barella and Mkhi on the sides, like in Florence last year: he played great and we won. But if he starts with 2/3 of the midfield made of subs, it is harder to shine (and Frattesi is not the most tactically savvy player)
